Nissan has announced that the company has made a growth of 29 per cent in sales for January 2014. The hike in domestic sales can be attributed to the 5,182 units were sold last month in comparison to 4,028 units delivered to customers in the same period last year.
For the period from October 2013 to January 2014, Nissan showed a surge in sales figures by 51.3 per cent. In this period 16,786 Nissan cars were sold, whereas, 11,095 units were sold in the corresponding period the previous year. The company’s sales have boosted since the compact SUV, Nissan Terrano was launched in October 2013.
The Nissan Terrano is the Japanese manufacturer’s fourth locally produced vehicle in India. The other cars from the company’s portfolio also added to the high sales of the manufacturer. These include the mid-sized sedan- the Sunny, the compact hatchback- the Micra, another Micra- the Active and the MPV- Evalia. All these are produced at Nissan’s Oragadam facility near Chennai.
Richard Spitzer, acting chief operating officer for Hover Automotive India (Nissan’s National Sales Company) said, “We are delighted with the reception Terrano has received from the market and its impact on strengthening sales performance since October last year. We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2014, supported by models like the new Sunny sedan.”
