Nissan India today launched their latest offering, the Micra diesel. The diesel version of the car was always on the cards and now that it is finally out, the competition in the segment just got tougher. Bookings for the Micra have already started (read earlier post) and people are flocking to the nearest Nissan dealership to book their diesel hatches. There is no change in the design of the car and it is identical to its petrol sibling. The Diesel variant will be available in two trims – the Micra XV and the XV Premium. The prices of which are 5.85 lakh and 6.33 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Mumbai)
The Nissan Micra diesel is powered by the same 1.5-litre engine as the Mahindra-Renault Logan’s. It is an eight-valve 1.5-litre dCi engine (code name K9K). This engine produces a maximum power of 63bhp and a torque of 160Nm@2000rpm. The Diesel variant will be available in two trims – the Micra XV Diesel and the Micra XV Premium Diesel and it will be offered in six colours – Sunlight Orange, Blade Silver, Storm White, Pacific Blue, Onyx Black and Brick Red.
We drove the Nissan Micra Diesel (read road test here) and were of the opinion that it should have been launched first rather than its petrol cousin but well, it was only an opinion. Nissan did declare that the Micra diesel with the refined engine boasted of a fuel efficiency close to 23 kpl and true to its word the diesel hatch that we tested returned a good 23.11kpl on the highway and 17.25kpl on a mix of highway and city driving. The worst figure that we got was of 12.47kpl during our performance test. With some great features put together the Micra diesel is up for grabs and surely at the price offered at, the deal's irresistible!
