Nissan Motors India recently held a programme at the Inorbit Mall in Malad, Mumbai, called the Nissan Safety Driving Forum to promote awareness on the need for road safety, various safety technologies in their vehicles as well as their benefits. The first safety forum was conducted in Delhi at the beginning of this month and the third one will be held in Chennai soon.
The programme highlighted the importance of using seatbelts as well how airbags worked and deployed through displays and simulators. Those participating in the programme also were also given the opportunity to test out a few Nissan vehicles both in reality as well as on a simulator.
Speaking during the launch, Takayuki Ishida, MD and CEO, said, “The growing number of cars on Indian roads has also resulted in increased number of accidents. Nissan as an automobile manufacturer understands its social responsibility and strongly believes that “Safety begins with ME.” Oddly enough, for a company emphasising on safety, we must point out that the Micra still offers ABS on only one of its five variants. To be fair, a driver airbag is standard across the range.
