Nissan India is preparing for a grand stall at the Auto Expo , the company has planned to unveil the Friend-Me concept car and its slew of other road cars. The Friend-Me concept car defines the company’s bold vision of how its next generation saloons may look like. But, the big news on stage is the championship winning GT-R GT500 that competes in Japan’s coveted Super GT Series in the GT500 Class.
Nissan’s motorsport division Nismo prepared the GT500 in 2008 replacing the 350Z race car. The GT500 uses a different power train over its production-based sibling. The GT500 initially got a 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine and a six-speed sequential manual transmission powering the rear wheels. However, in 2010 a 3.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine was implanted in the beefed-up racing GT-R.
The GT500 scored four victories in 2009 and led the championship in 2011 and 2012. Team Mola GT-R whose drivers Ronnie Quintarelli and Masataka Yanagida hit the bulls-eye with back to back championship wins in both Team and Driver in the Super GT500.
The GT500 can be seen at the Nissan stall at the Auto Expo 2014. Don’t miss it.
