Back in February, Nissan unveiled its radical Le Mans challenger. Called the GT-R LM Nismo, the race car has just been officially detailed by the Japanese automaker.
Nissan has interpreted the sport’s technical regulations in a whole new way by producing a front-engined, front-wheel drive car. Powering the GT-R LM Nismo is a 3-litre twin turbo V6 petrol engine and a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). Gearshifts, meanwhile, are handled with a 5-speed sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shift system.
The bodywork comprises of carbon-composite panels, polycarbonate windscreen and an adjustable rear wing. As for the suspension set up, the racer features Ohlins multi-adjustable front dampers and Penske multi-adjustable rear dampers with hydraulic rear anti-roll bar system. Lastly, it weighs 870kg and gets a fuel tank capacity of 68litres.
The GT-R LM Nismo is competing in the LM P1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the highest category in world sports car racing. Starting at Silverstone, UK on April 12, the series travels around the world to Spa in Belgium, onto the Le Mans 24 Hours and Germany’s Nurburgring, before going global with races in the US, Japan, China and the Middle East.
