If you are a racing enthusiast and ever dreamt of driving a race car for a living, are 18, have a valid driving licence then here is your chance. Nissan has launched the GT Academy in India at the ongoing Auto Expo.
The GT academy’s ploy is to take gaming enthusiasts good at driving in a simulator and make them professional race car drivers within a few months. In 2008 Nissan Europe in association with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Polyphony Digital Inc started the GT Academyand since then has been turning many a dream into reality.
If you missed experiencing what the academy has to offer at the Expo, there here is a schedule which you can make use of. From the Auto Expo it moves to the Ambience Mall, Gurgaon, NCR beginning 20 to 23 February; moving on to Mumbai at the R-City Mall, Ghatkopar from 20 to 23 March; at Hyderabad - Inorbit Mall from 17 to 20 April; Bangalore - Mantri Mall from 15 to 18 May; and ends at Chennai - Express Avenue Mall, Royapettah from 5 to 8 June.
Out of six shortlisted drivers from India only one winner (unlike other countries where multiple winners get a chance) will be chosen after competing against qualified racers worldwide. The winner will thenbe eligible for the Driver Development Programme and will be taught the necessary skills to compete in the international 'graduation race'.
