Nissan Motors India has confirmed that it will launch its MUV, the Evalia, in Mumbai on September 26. The MUV in its global avatar, NV200, has already achieved a certain level success in the international market, being chosen as the new official taxicabs for the New York and London.
However, here in India Nissan is not looking to target the fleet market alone, which is probably why the name has been changed along with customisation for India market. The Nissan Evalia will compete with the Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Evalia scores on its drivability and abundant space, but only time will tell if it can dethrone the MUV segment leader, the Innova.
The Evalia will be powered by Nissan’s 1461cc K9K engine which produces 85bhp and 200nm of torque. It is expected to give an ARAI certified 19kmpl which is slightly higher than the Innova and the Xylo. To maintain the competitive edge we are expecting Nissan to price the sedan very competitively in the price range of Rs 8-10 lakh.
