Nissan has launched its MUV, the Evalia, in Maharashtra for Rs 8.49 lakh – same as the Delhi prices. The Japanese automaker’s entry into the utility market, the Evalia, is now available through all 75 Nissan dealerships across the country.
The Evalia is powered by Nissan’s K9K 1.5-litre diesel engine which produces 85bhp and a torque of 200nm and has ARAI certified efficiency of 19.3kmpl. The MPV also scores over its rivals with its very low turning radius of 5.2-meters, easy ingress and egress with sliding doors and ample seating, 13 different cubby holes and boot space.
The Evalia, which currently has 85 per cent localisation in its assembly process, joins the Micra hatchback and Sunny Sedan as the third homegrown product from the Japanese automaker. Nissan hopes to sell 2000-2500 units of the Evalia every month.
“We have aimed the Evalia at families and personal buyers but logically our target buyer also include the fleet market,” said Nitish Tipnis, director of sales and marketing at Hover Automotive..
The company also considers India as a key growth market and hopes to sell one lakh units by the end of 2013. Nissan will also increase its dealers across the country from 75 in 2012 to 300 by 2016.
