Nissan India has announced that the prices of all Nissan and Datsun cars will be increased by two per cent with effect from 1 April, 2018. The reason for the increase was cited to offset the snowballing input and manufacturing costs borne by the carmaker.
There are frequent variations in the input costs including commodity prices and freight charges. The carmaker says it has been absorbing such increase in input and material costs till now. However, now they are constrained to increase the prices up to two per cent which will be passed down to the customer.
Nissan-Datsun has not specified the exact increment in prices, which will vary from model to model and also depend on the variant. This price hike doesn't come as a surprise as many manufacturers have taken these steps due to the rise in production costs. Some more manufacturers might join the bandwagon.
