Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd is planning to increase the prices of the cars from their portfolio, starting next month. This decision is being taken due to the rising input and operational costs. Datsun will also follow suit and hike their car prices.
The prices of Nissan cars will be increased by 2.5 per cent and Datsun cars by 3 per cent. This means, Nissan vehicles including the Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and the Terrano will be expensive up to Rs 18,000. The Datsun Go will also cost Rs 11,000 more than the current price.
Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd said, “We have increased prices due to rising input costs, although we are confident Nissan and Datsun vehicles will continue to offer excellent value and choice to our customers. Despite recent high inflation, the outlook for the Indian economy is positive.”
The companies will raise the prices of their products in order to compensate for the huge costs the manufacturers have to bear due to ever rising expenses. The price hike will be effective from January 1, 2015 and only time can tell whether it will affect the sales of the carmakers or not. Let’s hope this announcement doesn't upset the prospective Nissan and Datsun car buyers.
