Nissan India will be celebrating this Diwali in style as they flagged-off their 300,000th car, a silver Sunny, for export from Ennore Port Ltd. (EPL), The Chennai-based port started exporting cars in 2010 and it was first used as an export gateway by Nissan.
Nissan have been exporting their vehicles to more than 100 countries/regions including Africa, Middle East and Europe. Nissan’s line-up in India includes the Micra, Sunny, Evalia, Terrano, Teana, X-Trail and the 370Z. However, Renault-Nissan’s Chennai plant manufactures only the Micra, Sunny, Evalia and the Terrano, and Nissan exports only the Micra and the Sunny.
Commenting on the new milestone achievement, Mr. Kenichiro Yomura, President, Nissan India Operations, who was present at the event, said, “I congratulate our employees at Nissan India on reaching the 300,000 vehicle export milestone. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone in such short period of time without their dedication and commitment. I would also like to thank the Ennore Port authorities for their supporting our export commitment. This milestone underscores our manufacturing capabilities at our world class facility here in Oragadam, near Chennai.”
