Nissan has just taken the covers off the 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept. While the Japanese automaker calls it a design study, the official images show a near-ready production model. Like the 370Z Nismo coupe, this new convertible model gets a V6 petrol engine.
To start with, the Roadster Concept gets a GT-R-inspired aerodynamic body panels. In the front, the deep fascia with LED daytime running lights, black headlight bezels and red stripe accents set the tone. The rear is highlighted by a carbon-fibre rear spoiler created exclusively for this model.
The convertible top itself is a cloth power-folding roof with fabric inner liner design. It includes a single action top operation with automatic roof lock and fixed glass wind deflector, just like the standard model.
Under the hood, the 3.7-litre V6 engine has been uprated to develop 350bhp of power and 374Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox that rev matches during downshifts. The concept adds a Nismo-branded strut tower brace under the hood, along with a red engine cover. The independent suspension includes special springs and stabilizer bars. Completing the Nismo setup are large Nissan Sport Brakes and a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD). The latter apparently helps improve acceleration off the line with its shorter final drive ratio.
This 370Z Roadster Concept joins Nismo’s 2015 line-up which includes the GT-R Nismo, 370Z Nismo, Juke Nismo and the Juke Nismo RS.
