Next-generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R to be offered in ten variants, two engines and six colours
- 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engine to be on offer
- LXi, VXi, ZXi in 5 MT and 5 AGS transmission options
- ZXi to only be offered on 1.2-litre variant
- New car measures in at 3.65 meters and with a wheelbase of 2.43 meters
Yesterday, we gave you a detailed look at the interiors of the new, next generation Maruti Wagon R and well today the variants and specifications have been revealed. This next generation car will be offered in 10 variants, two engine options and in six colours.
Engines
This new Wagon R for the first time will get the option of two engines. One will be the 1.0-litre unit that power the current car while the new engine option is the 1.2-litre found in the Swift, Dzire and Ignis. The former produces 67bhp/90Nm while the latter is good for 81bhp/113Nm. Both engines will get a five-speed manual/AMT or as Maruti calls it AGS technology.
Variants
Maruti Suzuki will offer the Wagon R in 10 variants and six colour options. The palette list comprises White, beige, brown, orange, black and blue. The variant list is as follows though there is no clarity yet on what will be extra in the optional variants.

The next generation Wagon R measures in at 3.65-meters and with a wheelbase of 2.43 meters. These are additions of 30mm over the outgoing model. Maruti has also added 6mm to the overall height of the car.
Finally, the LXi variants will be offered with R13 wheels while the VXi and ZXi variants will be offered with 14-inch wheels. Its main rivals are the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go+ as well as Maruti’s very own Celerio hatchback.
