-Second generation Ertiga
-Will be launched in India on 21 November
-New 1.5-litre petrol engine
-Updated design and expanded dimensions
The second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been spied undisguised ahead of its launch in India on 21 November. The car was unveiled for the Malaysian market earlier this year with a confirmation that its India production would begin this month (October).
The basic silhouette of the Ertiga has been retained but now with a new face, rear-end and design for the alloy wheels. On the inside, the Ertiga has borrowed most elements from the Dzire and Ciaz. The expanded length and wheelbase means there is more room inside across all three rows.
The Ertiga will make use of the same 1.5-litre engine that debuted in the Ciaz. It’s good for 103bhp/138Nm with a five-speed manual as standard or an optional four-speed AT. The diesel, of course, is the 1.3-litre multijet in the 90bhp/190Nm state of tune. This engine is expected to be offered only in the MT guise. With the launch of the Ertiga, the Heartect platform now underpins three vehicles in Maruti Suzuki’s range.
The Ertiga is a niche vehicle in terms of body style, but it is a popular vehicle with an average of around 4000 units every month.
