-Second generation car is expected to be launched in 2019
-Sketches reveal S-Class (esque) dual displays
-Wedge shaped air vents
Mercedes-Benz has released the design sketches for the cabin of the next generation India-bound GLE SUV. This will be the second generation for the mid-sized vehicle in the German automaker’s range and is expected to see the light of the day in 2019.
As expected, the sketches reveals a massive screen divided into two parts as the highlight of the dashboard. Debuting in the pre-facelifted version of the W222 generation S-Class, this feature is now expected to be a common feature across the Mercedes range with regard to future models. The sketches also reveal rectangular air vents as well as a completely new design for the centre console.
Our spy sleuths have also given us images of the second generation GLE testing in Europe. The images reveal that the 2020 GLE will move to a crossover-like design as compared to the boxy shape that the current car has inherited from its predecessor, the ML-Class.
This car is India-bound and, in fact, we expect that the car will be launched in our market shortly after its international debut. This rival to Audi Q5, Jaguar F-pace, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60 will be assembled locally for the Indian car market at Mercedes’ plant in Chakan near Pune.  Â
