-The new Thar will come with forward facing second row seats
-Also on offer will be a new engine and many safety features as standard
The next generation Mahindra Thar was spotted once again. New images that surfaced on the web this time reveal the interiors of the all new Thar. The test-mule is a hard-top variant.
As seen in the spy images, the next-gen Mahindra Thar gets revamped interiors with new fabric seats, front facing seats for the second row, new dashboard and new centre console with new knobs for the AC controls.
Compared to the outgoing generation, the next generation Mahindra Thar will be based on a new ladder-on-frame platform. The new Thar will also be longer and wider than the previous generation model. Mahindra is expected to equip the next-gen Thar with safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and seat belt reminder. All these features will come as standard offering in order to comply with the new safety norms.
Powering the upcoming generation of the Mahindra Thar will be a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that replaces the 2.5-litre CRDe unit in the current model. The new engine is expected to produce a power output of 138bhp and 300 Nm of torque. Mahindra will also offer a 4x4 drive-train and a low-ratio gearbox on the new Thar. This new generation Thar could make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo followed by the launch later in the year.
