- Next-gen Elantra will take design cues from new Sonata
- Likely to be offered with the same set of engines
Hyundai has begun testing the next generation Elantra. A test-mule of the upcoming model was spotted during a public road test. The unit was completely covered in camouflage and as a result, no details pertaining to the design were discernible.
What we do know though is that the upcoming generation of the Hyundai Elantra will take design cues from the new Sonata. The test-mule is a pre-production model and hence, does not receive the production-ready design elements.
Details regarding the interiors of the next-gen Hyundai Elantra are not available at the moment as spy images reveal only the exterior of the model. Engine specifications are likely to remain unchanged and hence, one can expect the same set of powertrain options. In India, the current generation Hyundai Elantra is available with a 2.0-litre, four cylinder petrol engine and a 1.6-litre, four cylinder diesel engine. In international markets, the model could also be offered as an EV. The next generation Hyundai Elantra is likely to be unveiled in 2021.
