Next Mercedes-Benz CLS spotted with hardly any camouflage

A near-production Mercedes-Benz CLS prototype was spied testing in light disguise. Unlike the previous sighting, these shots disclose more of the head lamps with LED DRLs, a diamond grille and the bonnet crease that no longer ends at the head lamps.

It is possible that this particular test mule is an AMG version which is evident from the huge air vents at the front fascia behind the cladding, the large alloys with low profile rubber, and what looks like a lowered sports suspension. All said and done, the 2018 CLS looks undeniably sharper than the current car despite the similar profile.

Furthermore, we noticed that the rear quarter glass is larger than the outgoing model, which means that the new car’s wheelbase has been stretched. If this is true then the cabin space, especially for rear occupants, should be decidedly roomier. Sources also claim that the interiors of the new CLS will be heavily influenced by the new E-Class.

There has been no confirmation from Mercedes-Benz about bringing the new CLS-Class to next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show since they already have a few debuts lined up. Reports state that the new car may be unveiled at the Los Angeles or Detroit Motor show later this year.
