Next generation VW Touraeg spied undisguised in China

The next generation Volkswagen Touraeg SUV has been spied undisguised in China ahead of its probable debut at the LA Auto Show in December.

As expected, this next generation Touraeg has been built along the lines of the Atlas and Tiguan with many elements of the car retaining the family look. Where the older Touraegs were a bit boxy, this one has gone for the crossover feel and you can see that in the silhouette.

Since this is the China spec car, we can assume that it is a long wheelbase version of the car. This means it will be first sold specifically in China with a possible launch in Latin American markets a short while after the Chinese debut.

This Touraeg is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel V6 engines and four-cylinder engines depending on the market. It is VW’s first SUV, but it will now be positioned between the Tiguan and Atlas in their hierarchy.
This car is unlikely to come to India as its place in the Indian market is already occupied by vehicles from VW’s luxury brand Audi. There is also the fact that VW could muster many sales for the first two generations of the car that were sold here till 2013.
