Next-generation Skoda Superb could debut at 2015 Geneva Motor Show

If a report by Car Advice is to be believed, the much-awaited, next-generation model of the Skoda Superb could make its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Due in 2016, the all-new Superb will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform which currently underpins a variety of cars.

The looks of the new Superb takes inspiration from the Vision C concept which will preview a new design language for the Czech carmaker. Skoda says the design of the new Superb will be way more expressive and dynamic than the existing car. Looking at the pictures of the Vision C concept, we can’t help but agree. Although there are a lot of Audi-esque design cues, especially around the rear-end with the A7-like stubby bootlid and minimalistic taillights, the Vision C concept is striking indeed.

The upcoming generation of the Superb, then, may well feature a dynamic new design with a lot of stylish touches. Engine wise, the new Superb is expected to be powered with a range of petrol and diesel engine options including the 2-litre TDI unit from the Passat which is rated at 190bhp. Also expected is the 280bhp, 2-litre, TSI engine which will replace the existing 3.6-litre V6 powered model. According to a few reports, there could also be a plug-in hybrid model with a 1.4-TSI unit paired with an electric motor.

Skoda India could launch the all-new Superb in 2016. The car is expected to feature a more striking design than the existing model; however, it will continue to have its acres of legroom and overall comfort, making it as spacious and practical as ever.
