While the launch of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is still quite some time away, the upcoming off-roader has been digitally rendered, thanks to Headlight Mag. Mitsubishi is expected to fully showcase the new Pajero Sport in August this year in Thailand.
Going by the drawings, the boxy look that has dominated the Pajero for the last few years appear to have been ditched in favour of a more rounded and contemporary shape. This new model seems to be more in line with the design of the Outlander PHEV Concept. However, its ladder-on-frame design and high stance will be retained.
On the engine front, the new vehicle is expected to get a variety of turbo diesel engines with outputs ranging from 154bhp to 181bhp and between 380Nm and 430Nm of torque depending on the market. There will also be a 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 128bhp and 194Nm of torque. The diesels get the option of a five-speed manual/AT as well as a six-speed manual while the petrol is only offered with a five-speed manual.
The vehicle is expected to make its global debut in August this year and launch in Thailand first. Meanwhile, the Indian launch will happen sometime next year upon which the new Pajero Sport will be seen competing with a variety of off-roaders including the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Mahindra SsangYong Rexton and the upcoming Ford Endeavour.
