The engine specifications for the next generation Mini Clubman, which will make its debut at Frankfurt, have been revealed. This new Clubman will be offered with two diesel engines and two petrol engines in various states of tune.
The entry-level diesel engine is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit that produces 111bhp and 270Nm of torque.
There is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit that is available in two states of tune – first as the Cooper D Clubman where the engine has been tuned to produce 145bhp/330Nm of torque and then in the top-of-the-line SD Clubman where the engine produces 185bhp and 400Nm of torque.
On the petrol front, the entry-level engine is the 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit that produces 100bhp/180Nm of torque. In the Cooper Clubman this engine produces 130bhp and 220Nm of torque. Lastly, the Cooper S Clubman gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder mill that produces 188bhp and 280Nm of torque. The latter increases to 300Nm with the enabling of the overboost function.
This new Clubman is 27cm longer than the five-door Mini Cooper and consequently gets a wheelbase that is 10cm longer than the latter. It was previewed earlier this year and will go on sale in Germany in October. We can expect an Indian debut by the middle of 2016.
