The highly anticipated next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will make its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This current hatchback shape was introduced in 2004 and has been a major success for the Japanese automaker retailing over five million units in just 12 years.
This new Swift will be the third generation for this body style and as is evident from the spy shots, it will be an evolutionary design rather than something completely new. This move, we believe, the company has taken to tap into the success of the current car but to offer a new vehicle at the same time.
Spy shots of the cabin reveal a decent feature list that is expected to include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and a plethora of storage spaces. The instrument cluster and centre console have been revised completely. Engine options are expected to include the 1.2 Dualjet motor as well as the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. The Indian market will also get the car with the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine.
This is a very important car for Maruti Suzuki as it accounts for a huge amount of their sales and manufacturing volumes, in fact, we (India) account for 54 per cent of Swift sales globally. In this light we can expect India to be the first market to get this new Swift once it is unveiled.
