Jaguar is planning to revive the outgoing sedans in their portfolio, the XF and the XJ. The sedans, which the company believes are doing well in the automobile market, are due for more than just a facelift.
Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar while discussing with Autocar UK confirmed that he is working on the designs of the two sedans. The XF was introduced back in 2008 and given a facelift in 2011. The design for the new XF is already under development and the XJ will follow suit. We can expect the new XF to be announced in 2016 before the brand-new XJ.
Callum said, “I'm designing the next XF and thinking about the next XJ. I'm a huge fan of the XF and I believe it has stood the test of time. The sales figures are increasing all the time, too.”
Changes will be done to the front and rear styling of the cars. However, Callum did not mention any mechanical changes or any other specifications about the advancements. We believe the cars will borrow traits from the Jaguar F-Type and the latest concept from the carmaker, the CX-17. The new XF will be in contest with the 5 Series from BMW.
