Ladies and gentlemen , here it is, Ford’s successor to its most successful small product in the Indian market. Yes, we are talking about the next generation Figo hatchback whose details Ford has posted on their website but is yet to make public.
First things first, this new car gets exactly the same design and exterior elements as the compact sedan. We can see the bold trapezoid grille, swept back headlights and power lines on the bonnet.
Moving over to the side, we can see the strong shoulder line and flared wheel arches which give a muscular stance to the hatchback. The rear gets wrap around tail lamps, a relatively high loading lip with what appears to be a relatively narrow opening. The rear bumper gets a nice sporty recess into which the number plate holder has been fitted.
As revealed yesterday, the Figo hatchback gets the same cabin as the compact sedan but it has now been trimmed out in full black with silver inserts for the centre console as compared to the Aspire’s black and beige setup. Features on the top-spec variants include the SYNC music system, electric folding ORVMs, climate control and as many storage spaces as the Aspire compact sedan.
On the safety front, this car will be the first in segment to get six airbags though like the compact sedan, we believe that it will only be offered on the top-spec Titanium+ variant. Other safety features include hill assist, ESP and a perimetrer alarm system.
We expect that Ford will price the Figo in the range of Rs 4.69 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh where it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio and the Tata Bolt.
