When the next-generation 2017 BMW 5 Series hits the showrooms across the globe, it will bring along the Touring (estate) model as well which is a popular buy among Europeans. Codenamed G31, the all-new 5 Series Touring has just been spotted in Germany during some testing trials.
Despite its heavy camouflage, the prototype doesn’t shy away from revealing its overall proportions of this new premium estate model. The front and rear bumper will carry a sportier design as compared to the existing 5 Series Touring. The taillights, too, will get a redesigned look to make them look sleeker and longer than the current F10 generation model.
The G31 5-Series Touring will be based on BMW’s next generation platform called “35up”. This new architecture will reportedly introduce lightweight materials and construction to mass production cars.
While the market for premium estate cars is non-existent here in India, Audi has spruced things up with the launch of the RS6 Avant. Perhaps we will find more premium manufacturers venturing into this unexplored segment in the near future.
