The next generation of the BMW 3 Series (codenamed G20) has been spotted on test in Europe. The pictures reveal a pre-production model of the automaker’s mid-level luxury sedan but showed a revised design philosophy.
The car gets a sharper face and revised design for the headlamps; both changes in line with the new 7 Series that will be launched in India next month. The iconic lines of the 3 Series have been retained nearly 40 years on and this is visible in the small boot-big hood design philosophy.
Our sources suggest that the German automaker’s cluster architecture (a.k.a CLAR) will play a major role in underpinning their future core RWD models.
It is also expected that since the competition in the segment has now become more intense, BMW may go for volume building measures rather than outright display of prowess when it comes to keeping the car ahead of the game.
It is too early to speculate about this car for India but rest assured it will come here whenever it is launched and will be locally assembled.
