A heavily camouflaged Audi S8 has been spotted undergoing cold weather testing in northern Europe.
Last year in September, Audi’s upcoming S8 test mule was spotted at the Nurburgring, and this time around, the S8 prototype shows off its quad exhaust setup in the pictures. As this is a sporty derivative of the next A8, the model will only be released a few months after the brand first unveils the new A8 in September at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
As of now, there’s no word yet on what motor will power the next S8, however, reports suggest that Audi could use Porsche’s new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 that’s currently used in the latest Panamera Turbo. Though it makes 550bhp and 770Nm of torque, it will be nice to see how Audi will tune this motor further, as the current S8 Plus already makes 605bhp.
Also, since there’s no confirmation about an RS8 in the works, the S8 Plus will continue to be the most performance oriented version in the line-up. That’s only if you don’t count the W12 A8 model which, in due course, is suspected to borrow the new 6.0-litre biturbo motor, capable of 608bhp, from the Bentley Bentayga. Stay tuned for more news in the days to come.
