The next generation Audi Q7 and A4 have been spotted testing together outside Mumbai. Spotted on the Ahmedabad highway (NH8), the Q7 was completely undisguised while the A4 had its badges covered completely.
The Audi Q7 was unveiled in Detroit earlier this year while the A4 sedan made its debut at Frankfurt last month. Both vehicles have undergone some significant cosmetic changes and have also received new engines and mechanicals.
In terms of appearance, the Q7 gets a new grille, matrix headlights and a sharper design as compared to the older car’s rounded appearance. Moving over to the side we can see the familiar design but now with a sharper rake in the roof and a more pronounced flare in the wheel arches. The rear has the same layout as the outgoing model but now with the new design philosophy.
The A4 like its SUV sibling carries an evolutionary design. The fascia gets the new Audi grille, optional matrix LED headlamps and sporty bulges on the bonnet. The side profile has been retained from the outgoing model but now includes a strong shoulder line as well as new design for the alloy wheels. The rear too has got sharper and gets a new design for the tail lamps as well as a larger bumper.
While we have been seeing the Q7 on test for a while now, this is one of the first few times that we have spotted the next generation A4 on test. Its presence, in the sub-continent, just a short while after its global unveil signifies its importance for the Indian market and is a sign that it will be launched here very soon. The Q7, on the other hand, is expected to be Audi’s Diwali offering for the Indian market.
The Q7 is expected to initially be offered as a CBU and will later become a locally assembled model while the A4 is expected to be a CKD-based unit right from the beginning.
