Audi is currently working on a new generation of the Q5 which will make its debut in the next couple of years. Featuring a new chassis, different styling and a whole load of new technology, this new model will be looking to make a stronger case for itself in the mid-size premium crossover segment.
Riding on the MLB architecture, the new Q5 is expected to benefit from a lot of tech seen in the latest-generation Q7. Thanks to the modern underpinnings, the new Q5 will feature a lot of weight saving and better on-road dynamics.
As for the powertrain options, the engine line-up will consist of four- and six-cylinder units, besides a plug-in hybrid version. This next-gen model will continue to feature the popular 2-litre TDI unit which will be even more efficient in its future iteration.
The new Q5 is expected to be launched in the middle of 2016 with cars like the BMW X3 and Volvo XC60 in its sight.
