A next generation Audi A6 test mule has been spotted doing the rounds in Europe. It is expected to debut later this year and will sport a revised design and engine options. This update will bring the A6 up to date and let it compete with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Volvo S90 and the Jaguar XF all of which are have been given generation updates over the course of the last one year.
Pictures reveal that under the heavy camouflage this new A6 will sport the German automaker’s latest design philosophy bringing it in line with the visual cues of the new A4 as well as the soon-to-be-launched A8 sedan. It will for obvious reasons have larger proportions that the A4.
Our spy sources indicate that from the design of the wheels, this may be a hybrid model or an ultra –efficient hybrid model. This is meant to showcase Audi’s efforts in designing greener cars, a move no doubt compounded by parent company VW’s Diesel Gate scandal. They also suggest that the cabin will be copied from the latest Q7 in terms of features and layout.
Expect this car to get a variety of petrol and hybrid engine options ranging from 2.0-litre 4.0-litres for the RS6 variants. However, for markets like India we can also expect at least two diesel engined model with AT options only though.
If the car makes its debut at Frankfurt then it is likely to go on sale in Europe in early 2018 with an Indian debut by the end of Q1 2018.
