Audi’s upcoming generation of the A4 is nearing final testing and the production version of the car is expected to arrive at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Shown. A near production prototype model was recently spotted testing on the gruesome Nurburgring in Germany.
The new A4 will don an evolutionary look with sharper lines. It is also likely to be noticeably bigger in comparison to the current model, revealing Audi’s intention on differentiating the vehicle from the smaller A3 sedan which bears a similar design. We expect the B9 model to have a decently longer wheelbase than the current A4.
According to few reports, the new A4 will make use of the MLB Evo platform which should help in weight saving of about 100kg over the existing model. Besides the regular turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, Audi could also introduce a plug-in hybrid variant powered by a 211bhp, 2-litre TFSI engine paired with a 95bhp electric motor.
The new A4 will go on sale later this year. Until then, Audi will have to continue with the current generation A4 which faces stiff competition, thanks to the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class.
