Audi is busy preparing the next-generation model of the A4 sedan, as seen in this new set of spy shots by World Car Fans. As reported earlier, the German automaker is said to be working on a radical new design for its popular luxury sedan, however, the camouflaged prototype in these shots show an evolutionary look with sharper lines.
The prototype model also looks noticeably bigger in comparison to the current generation A4. What this means is that Audi is working on really differentiating the vehicle from the smaller A3 sedan which bears a similar design. Expect the next-generation model to have a significantly longer wheelbase than the current A4.
According to the report, the next-generation A4 will make use of the MLB Evo platform which should result in a weight saving of about 100kg over the existing model. Besides the regular turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, Audi could also introduce a plug-in hybrid variant powered by a 211bhp, 2-litre TFSI engine paired with a 95bhp electric motor.
Audi is expected to introduce this new A4 sometime next year. Until then, the brand will have to continue with the current generation model, which is about to face stiff competition here in the Indian market, as Mercedes braces itself with the launch of the completely new C-Class.
