Renault has made it official that it will unveil an all-new generation of the Megane at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Renault’s design head Laurens Van Den Acker confirmed the news to Indian Autos Blog during the global reveal of the KWID in India.
The next-gen Megane will switch to the CMF architecture (CMF-CD) which also underpins the new Nissan Pulsar. According to the report, adapting the CMF architecture will not only keep manufacturing costs competitive for Renault, but will also result in a good amount of weight shedding over the previous model.
Like the current model, the full size hatchback will compete with a range of formidable brands like the Volkswagen Golf and Peugeot 308. Given the non-existent demand for such a kind of vehicle in India, Renault will hardly be considering the Indian market in its list of target markets for the next-gen Megane.
