Launched in 2012, the Duster has been the cash cow for Renault ever since. Recently spotted in Spain, the spy shots reveal that the new generation of the Renault Duster is already in works. Reports suggest that the next-gen Duster will be built on the Renault-Nissan's CMF-B platform and will be equipped with a third row of seats.
The heavily camouflaged test mule does not divulge any styling cues of the car, although the profile of the vehicle appears to be similar. It is rumoured that a third row of seats maybe in the works because of the speculated CMF-B platform which will allow the manufacturers to accommodate an additional row of seats. The addition of third row will, however, eat into the 470L boot space it has on offer.
The next-gen Duster is expected to get a features-loaded cabin and manufacturers are expected to up the quality by a few notches for a more premium feel than the current Duster.
Officials have confirmed that Renault has already begun adapting its factory in Mioveni, Romania for the new Duster, although the new Duster is expected to hit the Indian shores early next year.
The upgrade will place the next-gen Duster a level above than its current market position. The new car will rival against the Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Hexa.
