As Nissan prepares to launch the GT-R facelift next year, fresh reports have emerged indicating that the next-gen GT-R will be a hybrid model. Speaking to sources, Nissan’s Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura had laid emphasis on electrification for cars. He also added that one should not be surprised to find the next-gen GT-R making a debut as an electrified vehicle.
At the New York Auto Show held in March this year, Nissan had showcased the 2017 facelift model which claims to have received its biggest facelift since its debut way back in 2007. In terms of fresh upgrades, the 2017 Nissan GT-R gets a new hood design and redesigned front grille, while the interiors now get a lowered dash paned for better driver visibility and restyled body panels. The facelift version will find way to US showrooms next year.
It is also believed that Nissan is working on tweaking a 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine in the next-gen model, which will be more fuel efficient and powerful at the same time. The company has declined to comment on the vehicle details as it is still in the development phase. Though no official date has been mentioned, we believe that it will not come before 2018.
