The forthcoming generation of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been digitally rendered, thanks to GizMag. Mitsubishi is expected to fully showcase the new Pajero Sport later this year in Thailand.
Looking at the images, the next-gen Pajero Sport could adopt a more rounded and contemporary shape as compared to the boxy silhouette of the current model. However, the latter’s ladder-on-frame design and high stance will be retained.
Underneath the redesigned body shell, this new model is expected to get a variety of turbo diesel engines with outputs ranging from 154bhp to 181bhp and between 380Nm and 430Nm of torque depending on the market. There will also be a 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 128bhp and 194Nm of torque. The diesels get the option of a five-speed manual/AT as well as a six-speed manual while the petrol is only offered with a five-speed manual.
The vehicle is expected to make its global debut in August this year and launch in Thailand first. When launched, this car will be seen competing with a variety of off-roaders including the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Mahindra SsangYong Rexton and the upcoming Ford Endeavour.
