The next-gen Suzuki Swift (Maruti Suzuki Swift for India) has been spotted again and what we have here is our best look yet at this much-awaited hatchback. Expected to be officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Swift will compete with the Volkswagen Polo and the Renault Clio in the UK.
The car spotted seems to be the top-of-the-line variant, complete with an entirely new headlight and bumper design. The hexagonal grille with chrome surround is all new too, if a bit bold looking. Look closer and you will spot the diamond cut-style alloy wheels and a somewhat similar glasshouse design as the current car.
Like the Baleno, the new Swift will get the 1-litre Boosterjet petrol engine. Additionally, there will also be a variant with the so-called SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki), both paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed auto. The new Swift is claimed to have the best fuel consumption amongst B segment hatchbacks in Europe. It will measure in at 3.84m in length and 1.74m in width.
Following the launch of the new Swift, Suzuki will bring in the hot Swift Sport possibly with a 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Now although the Indian market will not be getting the Swift Sport, Maruti Suzuki will launch the standard Swift with Indian requirements in mind. The India-spec car will be lighter and more economy-focused with a projected launch by early 2018.
