The upcoming new generation Hyundai i20 has been caught on test again, at the company’s usual testing grounds outside Chennai. Hyundai is actively testing this upcoming new version of what is one of the Korean carmaker’s bestselling models worldwide.
The new i20 is expected to make its debut later this year at the Paris Motor Show, possibly as a MY2015 (model year 2015) car. Despite being covered in heavy camouflage, the front-end looks similar to the one found in the current model, though sleeker but with a bigger grille while the rear gets larger tail lamps and a revised tailgate. Now that Hyundai is selling a bigger, much improved version of the i10 in the form of the Grand i10, the next-gen i20 is also expected to grow in size. Mechanically, however, the car is likely to remain the same, with two petrol and one diesel engine options.
Having positioned itself as one of the best selling cars for Hyundai in India as well as overseas, the i20 has been no less than a grand success for the Korean carmaker. However, it has been around in pretty much the same shape since the year 2008 and is starting to feel its age in the wake of newer rivals. This is why Hyundai is readying the next-gen generation model to rejuvenate the i20’s standings on the sales charts.
