- 1.2-litre petrol engine
- Major feature updates expected
The Honda Amaze will finally undergo a big update later this year in, fact it is expected to arrive in a new-generation guise and the test mule for the same has been spotted for the first time. The pictures indicate that it will continue as a compact sedan and like the City will be more of an evolution rather than an outright change.
The pictures are indicative of a new design for the tail lamps but retaining similar design elements when compared to the current car. The big change is expected to be inside where Honda is likely to upgrade the feature list with things like a 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, dual-digital screens, a power driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and a sunroof.
The only engine on offer is expected to be Honda’s 1.2-litre engine producing 89bhp/110Nm and mated to either a five-speed MT or a CVT. Apart from upgrading the features another place where Honda will have to up its game is by offering CNG power. Its dealers are currently offering the CNG fitment at their level but it will have to become a factory-fitted option if Honda wants to stay in the game with Maruti and Hyundai.
Honda’s fight will be a big one as the segment for the Amaze has shrunk with only the upcoming Dzire and the Aura for the company. It will also take on the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20 in terms of other competition.
