The entire Audi range is on the verge of a revamp. Spearheading the overhaul is the flagship A8 debuting this July. The all-new A7 Sportback will follow, along with the most important vehicle in Audi’s sedan lineup, the A6. All the three cars will sport the new design language from the German manufacturer as was previewed in the Prologue Concept back in 2015. Here we have a digital rendering of the second generation Audi A6 Allroad cued from the Audi Prologue Allroad Concept showcased at last year’s Shanghai Motor Show.
Similar to all the Allroad vehicles from Ingolstadt, the new A6 Allroad is imagined to be riding taller with raised suspension and an all round black cladding over the wheel arches. The tail light bar is scrounged from the Prologue Concept and looks the part with the sleeker silhouette and a tight tailgate. There are faux skid plates and diffusers at fore and aft and these are complemented by stylish multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Audi hasn’t confirmed the A6 Allroad, or even the A6 Avant, yet; but given the versatility of the premium segment and its competition like the 5 Series Touring and the E-Class Estate, Audi wouldn’t want to be left behind. The new gen Allroad will employ the newly developed MLB Evo platform and therefore will lose a significant amount of weight with a view to better dynamics and improved efficiency. Expect the interior to be refurbished as well with Audi's Virtual Cockpit system making its debut. The powertrain will be borrowed from the new gen A6. We expect the new Allroad to begin production after the new gen A6 goes on sale sometime next year.
