The second generation A5 test mule has been spotted uncamouflaged in Mumbai. The official premiering for the new A5 will be held on June 2 in Ingolstadt, Germany. The next-gen model incorporates wider stance and design cues from both the A4 and the outgoing A5.
Going by the images, the new Audi A5 gets new Matrix LED headlamps that blends neatly with the large hexagonal single frame grille in the front. The car gets five twin-spoke alloy design and the bumpers have been redesigned for a fresh look. The rear gets moulded spoiler on the liftgate and sleek LED taillamps. Based on the MLB Evo platform, the new model is expected to be lighter that the outgoing one.
As for the interiors, though complete detail is not available for now, it is likely that the next-gen car will get a Virtual Cockpit display and Audi’s new MMI Touch. Along with improved cabin space for the occupants, the car will get premium upholstery. In terms of safety, the next-gen Audi A5 will be offered with all modern safety features.
The next-gen Audi A5 will get a retuned turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. In place of the current eight-speed automatic gearbox, the tweaked engine might come mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Top-of-the-line trim will get the Quattro all-wheel drive technology, while front-wheel-drive will be offered as standard on this model.
