Tata has showcased an AMT version of the Nexon at the 2018 Auto Expo. It be launched in India later this year but unlike the Tiago and Tigor AMT, this one can be had with both petrol and diesel power.
The petrol unit is the 1.2-litre turbocharged unit producing 108bhp/170Nm while the diesel is a new 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm, which made its debut with the Nexon. The AMT for both cars will be a six-speed unit. When launched, this this AMT (automated manual transmission) spec Nexon will also debut a new orange colour for the compact SUV. You get three driving modes, creep function as well as a hill-hold function as a part of the AMT package.
We believe that Tata will price the AMT spec Nexon for Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 more than the equivalent manual variant and will initially offer the AMT pnly in the higher spec variants. It will go up against the likes of the Mahindra TUV300 in the diesel range and against the Honda WR-V and Ford EcoSport in the petrol range.
