Skoda’s best-selling model, the Octavia celebrates its 60th birthday later this year. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Czech car manufacturer will reveal the new-generation Octavia wagon. The company has reportedly delivered 3,88,200 units in 2018. For the record, the Octavia brand was first introduced in 1959 and was discontinued in 1971. The company reintroduced the brand in 1996.
The international market has witnessed three generations of the modern-era Octavia which is available in Saloon and Estate body styles. Skoda has not revealed any technical details for the new Octavia wagon yet and will officially reveal the details at the anniversary celebration event. The 2020 Octavia will be based on the MQB platform and it is believed that the company might discontinue the controversial split design headlamps in favor of the single unit Audi styled headlamps.
The new-generation Octavia is likely to be showcased in India sometime in 2020. As part of the 60th-anniversary celebration, Skoda India is likely to introduce a more feature loaded version of the current generation Octavia.
