Porsche has begun taking bookings of the third-gen Cayenne across the country. The all-new Cayenne will be launched in June and will be available in the Turbo guise initially. The new-gen Cayenne was revealed in August last year and made its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The upcoming Cayenne has been developed from the ground-up with a new MLB Evo platform, evolutionary design, updated interiors and newer engine options. Porsche’s first SUV also debuts the rear-wheel steering for the first time. It takes its design cues from its younger sibling, the Macan, and the new Panamera. The headlamps now have the four-point LED signature. The rear gives away the bulbous tail lights of the outgoing car and adopts a new sleek LED taillight design which runs across the rear. Overall, the new Cayenne looks sleeker, sportier, better proportioned and more handsome as compared to the outgoing car.
The SUV measures 4,918 mm in length which is 63 mm longer than the outgoing model. The width has increased by 44mmnow measuring 1,983mm. However, the height has been reduced by 9mm to lend a sportier appearance. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,895 mm. It has shed 65 kg of weight now tipping the scale at 1985 kg.
The cabin is fresh with a lot of Panamera influence. The centre console gets a large 12.3-inches infotainment touchscreen. The cabin comes loaded with all the connected features Porsche has on offer. There are plenty of driving aids as well. This includes 710 watts Bose sound system, 18-way adjustable seats, leather upholstery and all other luxuries expected from the sports SUV.
In the Turbo guise, the Cayenne is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 550bhp and 770Nm. It can hit a 100kmph in just 4.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 286kmph.
When launched here, the new Cayenne will continue to remain in the fray against the likes of Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover Sport and the VW Touareg.
