Mahindra has been testing the new-generation Thar for a while now. This time around, for the first time, a hard-top version of the Thar has been spied on test. The production-ready avatar of the new-gen Thar is likely to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and will be BS-VI compliant. Moreover, the new model will also comply with the new crash test norms.Â
In terms of design, the new Mahindra Thar will be bigger than the current generation model and feature prominent wheel arches that give it a muscular stance. The new model is expected to get improved upholstery along with a large touchscreen infotainment system and tweaked air vents for freshness. Mechanically, the new Thar is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 138bhp. This time around, the four-wheel drivetrain is also expected to get a mechanical locking differential.Â
In terms of safety, the new-generation Mahindra Thar will get standard safety features likes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, speed alert system and seat belt reminder.
