- The new Hyundai Elite i20 will be based on an updated platform.
- It could get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, mated to a 7-speed DCT.
- The next-gen Elite i20 is likely to be launched next year.
The next-generation Hyundai Elite i20 was spotted road testing for the first time near the company’s facility in Sriperumbudur, on the outskirts of Chennai. Although heavily camouflaged, the test mule appears to have a design silhouette similar to the outgoing model.
The new Hyundai Elite i20 will reportedly have a wider and lower body, which will give it a squat stance. While the design is still under wraps, it is safe to assume that the new Elite i20 will receive updates to the front and rear fascia, along with new headlamps and taillights. Last month, we brought you exclusive spy shots of the performance-oriented next-generation Elite i20 N, which provided us with a sneak peek into the new-gen Elite i20.
The car will get updated underpinning and a set of BS-VI compliant petrol and diesel engines. It will continue with the 83bhp 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and an 89bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor. Hyundai is also likely to offer the 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol motor with a 7-speed DCT on the new Elite i20, which debuted in the Hyundai Venue. The new Elite i20 will likely be launched sometime next year, and we can expect it to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
