Toyota’s new Fortuner, which has already been released in Thailand, has been spotted being transported in Malaysia. 4WD enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for the latest Fortuner and this could definitely mean that the SUV is perhaps inching closer to a local launch.
Thailand gets the new Fortuner with three engine options, the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV turbo diesel that pumps out 150bhp at 3,400rpm and 400Nm from 1,600rpm. A 2.7-litre petrol four cylinder that puts out 166bhp at 5,200rpm with 245Nm at 4,000rpm and the third option being the 1GD-FTV turbo diesel. When the new Fortuner hits Malaysian roads, it will lock horns with the Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Isuzu MU-X.
Toyota is expected to launch the all-new Fortuner in India only in 2017. When this SUV hits showrooms here, it will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
