New Toyota Etios Liva introduced at Rs 5.24 lakh

In order to strengthen its position in the hatchback segment, Japanese automaker Toyota has launched the new Etios Liva in India at a starting price of Rs 5.24 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new model continues to be powered by existing engine options, while changes are limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades. The new model is available in four petrol and four diesel variants.

In terms of design, the new Etios Liva gets a V-shaped front section which sports a redesigned grille, black accents and chrome inserts. For a newer appeal, the air dams have been blackened out and it now also houses the fog lamps. The sides appear more or less the same except for minor changes in the form of new alloy wheel design and electric folding door mirrors. As for the rear, the bumper has been redesigned and has received chrome inserts. The rear tail lamps have also been tweaked for freshness.

Speaking about the interior, it features a new ivory and black dual tone dash board, tubular structured seats with fresh contours, centre armrest and digital tachometer in the instrument cluster. Under the hood, the Etios Liva continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which generates 78bhp of power and 104Nm of torque, while the diesel version is powered by a 1.4-litre engine which generates 68bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, however, the clutch in the diesel variant has been tweaked for smoother operation and reduced clutch pedal effort.

Toyota has reworked the suspension system of the Etios Liva to offer a better drive experience. In terms of safety, it gets ABS as standard and also gets ISOFIX mounting points for child safety seats. Moreover, it also gets new side-impact reinforcements for enhanced safety. As for the current model, it will be available in base G variant till stocks last and will cost about Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 cheaper than the newer model.
