Toyota has shown the new Corolla in Russia, which is significantly different from the car that is to go on sale at the moment. Although, there is limited information available about the sedan, this could be the new face for the Corolla across all the markets.
The Corolla has a different front, with a new bumper, front grille and different looking headlamps with LED DRLs. And the changes are not limited to the front, there are enough differences to the side and rear profile to differentiate it from the existing model. Also the new car gets lot more chrome both at the front and back.
Inside, there are few changes. The AC console is different and so is. the touch-screen infotainment system. The door trim and AC vents also have been revised compared to the current car. However, there won’t be any changes to the drivetrain – the Corolla will continue to use the same petrol and diesel engines. For India, the petrol unit is the 1.8-litre mill producing 138bhp and 173Nm of torque. The diesel engine is the turbocharged 1.4-litre unit developing 87bhp and 205Nm of torque.
We can expect the global unveiling of the new Corolla soon. It might not be a new generation car, but still have comprehensive updates in terms of looks, interior and also refinement. The current version of the Corolla Altis has been on sale in India since 2014 and should get this new update soon after the global launch.
